Welcome to the Graphs and Tracks blog. Graphs and Tracks is a program for students who want to better understand graphs of motion. It helps develop an intuition of graphs of position, velocity and acceleration vs. time.
The program, available at graphsandtracks.com, runs on Windows PCs and Macs, as well as Android, iOS and WP tablets and phones. It has been tested on Internet Explorer 11, Edge, Chrome, Firefox, and Safari. While it runs best on tablets, laptops and desktop computers, it can also be used on smaller devices such as mobile phones.
If you encounter any difficulties running Graphs and Tracks, please post a question here and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
I was trying to save a new challenge, but the save button was grayed out. I set up a track, and entered a name for the new challenge, but was not able to save. Thoughts?
ReplyDeleteHello Chuck,
ReplyDeleteCould you give me details about what device, what operating system and what browser you were using when this happened?
If you get a chance, could you try saving a challenge arrangement using a different browser or a different machine? Let me know if you see the same issue again.
Thanks!
I am using a Lenovo Yoga laptop, Win 10, and I tried with Chrome and IE 11. I also tried with an older Dell desktop, Win7, Chrome and IE 11. None of those options allowed me to save a challenge
ReplyDeleteI figured it out. I needed to name and rate the difficulty in order to save the challenge.
ReplyDeleteI'm really excited about this new version. I've been using a DOS emulator to run the old version for years now!
Hello,
ReplyDeleteI am the science coordinator for Anne Arundel County Public Schools. Currently we are writing curriculum for our high school students. I am requesting permission to include a link to your Graphs and Tracks site and to post any material you might have available on our BlackBoard site. All materials will credit you or this site.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Valerie Wesner,
Valerie,
ReplyDeleteNice to hear from you. Our past week has been entirely consumed by the solar eclipse, so this is a late reply to your message. Yes, please feel free to link to Graphs and Tracks. I will look forward to seeing your BlackBoard site. Good luck with this.
David
Thank you so much for creating this. I know this is pushy but is there any thoughts of making Graphs & Tracks II?
ReplyDeleteAlso not sure if you are interested but I made a Excel response sheet to go along with the site. It makes grading easy (out of 30).
Here is the spreadsheet: https://app.box.com/s/qbdnlg1m2ek6e7u9ggd11sqlrju2xsav

The "challenges" tab only shows a blank screen on ChromeBooks running the latest chrome OS. My students cannot access the challenges link I created last year. Last year my students could get to the challenges link. THis year only students with Macs and Wind PCs can access the challenges tab. There was a recent Chrome OS update.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your report of a problem on ChromeBooks with the latest OS. I'm sorry to hear you cannot access the Challenges link. Further development of Graphs and Tracks is currently on hold. So I'm afraid you'll need to find a workaround at this time. Could you give me a sense of how many students are affected by this problem?
ReplyDeleteThanks,
David
In was quite amused to see the title for G&T when I went looking for some frames of reference content for my 8th grade science class. I think we must have met at Physlab in Lowell H's room back in early 90's. We used the heck out of the old MacOS9 (or was it 8) version of G&T. I'm hoping the chromebook issue can be resolved, but at the moment I need to get a motion detector hooked up and working so my students can simon sez me from home to learn about distance vs. time graphs. Unfortunately, we're all evacuated due to fire and smoke!
ReplyDeleteHello, could you send the answer key to the graphs?
